What is the RVA Adult Social Tennis Series?

RVA Adult Social Tennis Series is a weekly, social “drop-in” tennis offering for adult players who are looking to meet and play with others of similar skill levels. The “drop-in” model is more of a relaxed group tennis experience, with no pre-defined activities for each session—you are encouraged to network and make use of the time as you see fit! No partner or team needed in order to register.

What to expect: 

By joining the RVA Adult Social Tennis Series, you'll have an on-site coordinator who will ensure that the courts are reserved for only the RVA Adult Social Tennis Series players. The coordinator will also ensure that tennis balls are available for your use (yes, we will provide the balls!) across multiple courts for each session. Two tennis courts will be reserved for each session at the Mary and Frances Youth Center. 

Total # of sessions: 5 (one per week; 5/09/2021 through 6/6/2021)

Day/time: Sundays from 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM.  In the case of rain out, plan to play following Sunday until 6/6/2021. If make-up sessions are still owed after 6/6/2021, plan to play following Sunday's (same time and location) until 5 sessions have been reached.

Playing Format: It’s up to you! Feel free to rally back and forth, engage in friendly match-play (doubles or singles, depending on how many players show up) or participate in a live-ball game.

What NOT to expect: 

Tennis instruction (1-on-1), keeping scores after friendly match-play, team captains, or coordinator-led activities.

How much tennis experience do I need?

This RVA Adult Social Tennis Series is best suited for adult players who consider themselves a rookie (2.5-3.0 level). Some prior tennis playing experience is recommended.

Players Cost: $72.50 ($70  plus $2.50 registration fee)

Note: minimum of 10 participants must be met for this series to run. Full refunds will be allocated if minimum is not met.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

What to wear: Athletic clothing/shoes

What to bring: Water bottle, racquet (tennis balls will be provided)

Inclement weather policy: Coordinator will notify the participants the day of the event if the session will be postponed. If postponed, make-up sessions will be held the following week, same time and same location.  Details will be provided via email.
